My Hero

  • Hero - Abandon
  • He walked the dirty streets famous for nothing
  • He said, "Come follow me" and they came
  • A face like all the rest, but something was different
  • The Son of God would lead the way
  • And soon they all would say
  • There He goes, a hero, a savior to the world
  • Here He stands with scars in His hands
  • With love He gave His life so we could be free
  • The savior of the world
  • He spoke with clarity, walked across the sea
  • A single word would calm the storm
  • His touch could heal the sick, but He was called a hypocrite
  • Laid behind the stone, his death was shortly mourned
  • He left the curtain torn
  • There He goes, a hero, a savior to the world
  • Here He stands with scars in His hands
  • With love He gave His life so we could be free
  • The savior of the world
  • He chose to take the cross, shed tears for the lost
  • The broken and the needy, forgiving those who were and will be
  • The angel made it clear, he told them, "Have no fear
  • He's not here, He's not here"
  • There He goes, the Hero, the Savior to the world
  • Here He stands with scars in His hands
  • With love He gave His life so we could be free
  • The Savior of the world
  • The Savior of the world
  • The Savior of the world

  • Jesus Christ is my hero. My hero isn't a singer, but my Savior. Not a politician; the Prince of Peace. Not a minister; the Messiah. Not the government; the Good Shepherd. Not a leader in the church, in the military, or of some new technology; the Light of the world, the Lord of lords, the Lamb of God. Not a king; the King of kings.

  • He chose to die on the cross, even though that's what I deserved. He sacrificed everything for me, even though I'm nothing. He gave His very best for me, knowing I wouldn't always give mine for Him. He loved me with all that was in Him, even though He knew my darkest sins. He let God's judgment fall on Him, knowing what it would cost. He willingly paid the price for my sins, fully knowing that the consequence was death. He was separated from His Father for the first time ever in all eternity, so one day, my relationship with my Father will be completely restored for all future eternity. He became sin, so I can be free from its grasp. He was tortured in Hell, so I will never go there.

  • Praise God for sending His only Son to take the place of me--an unworthy, filthy, pathetic "king of failures." Thank You, Jesus, for being the ultimate Hero; for giving Your life so I could be free; for choosing to take my cross, my shame, my guilt, my sin, the agony, pain, and death that was meant for me; for coming to be the Savior of the world; for loving even a wretch like me; for conquering death, Hell, and Satan; for rising again; for saving me by Your blood and through Your grace.

  • Have a blessed Easter as You celebrate the only true Hero!

    1. I love thinking of Jesus Christ as my Hero. It makes me feel safe and secure. Thanks for this. I was a little confused when you wrote "He was tortured in Hell, so I will never go there." I don't remember anything about Christ being in Hell. Where does it say that in the Bible? Great song though. What kind of tune are you going to give it?

    2. I didn't write this particular song. You can listen to it by clicking on the title. The Bible doesn't specifically say that Jesus went to Hell, but Jesus said after His resurrection that He had not yet been to see the Father. If He didn't go to Heaven, where was He during the time His body was in the tomb? It makes sense that He would suffer in Hell since all the sins of the world were on Him. We can't really know for sure though.
